COLOR FULL

It has been awhile since I last posted. Been busy with the house being on the market and looking for a new home.  Working on my new coaching business as well.  July 25th is the Peddler's Village 5k race/walk and I have been hired as race director, so much of my time has been devoted to this event.

LIVE A COLOR FILLED LIFE!

Fifty is the new forty!

 “Fifty is the new forty”

Today officially is 50 days til' I am 50.  So begins the celebration in whatever way I desire.  Words, poems, quotes are things I ask folks to send me.  Perhaps over the next 50 days or today.  I intend to celebrate each day as if it was my birthday.  WHY NOT?  I will be 50 and I can do what I want!

Currently our house is for sale - maybe we will be in our new home by my birthday.   This year is a big one.  Joe retired, we sell and buy a house, and I turn 50.  I am open to ideas that folks may have.   If you are reading this, then leave a post.

Ideas to celebrate my 50th!   Enjoy your day.  1962-2012

CREATIVE SELF CARE- THANKS KATE!

I feel so fortunate... having a  Kaizen Muse Creativity Coach ( Kate Robertson of Safe Harbor Creativity Coaching ).  She is a great coach.  Working with her today brought some keen insights.  With Kaizen - questions are asked.  Today Kate asked me to list HOW CAN I BETTER CARE FOR MYSELF.  I came up with several ideas.  The one the really spoke to me and I have already done... make an appointment with myself.  So, I now have 3 "dates" with myself.  During this time I will be able to focus on me and how I can take better care of ME.  WOW.. this was a great session Kate.  Thank you!

There is an Indian proverb or axiom that says that everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual.
Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time but,
unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired,
we are not a complete person.
— Rumer Godden in A House with Four Rooms

Ten ways to love your creativity!

1. Get out and do something wildly fun, inspirational, and "just because" your muse is wanting it. Think museums, art stores, theatre, a dance
club, a garden store, or jazz club.

2. Show gratitude. Say thank you to your creativity for all the ideas, new energy, brilliant inspirations, and insights you get each and every day. Acknowledge you ARE creative daily.

3. Tempt it with something new that intrigues you. What is that *something* you have been thinking about creating but not giving into? Give in. Take a baby step toward it.

4. Use your creativity for someone else you love. Sharing the gift of your creativity with others is a gift you give yourself. Write a poem. Make a handmade valentine. Sing a love song.

5. Commit to your creative practice daily. Get back to the daily work and remember to love how it makes you feel.

6. Love your inner gremlin and don't listen to it!

7. Aim to create something meaningful for yourself to put in your studio, home, or office. Surround yourself with your creative work.

8. Channel more creative inspiration in bed (ummm...via your dreams!). Ask your creative spirit to send you a dream to help you find solutions to challenges. Then get ready...

9. Find kindred spirits who will support, inspire, motivate, and kick you in the butt a bit if that is what you need. Spend time with them.

10. Say I LOVE BEING CREATIVE to yourself daily. And mean it.

ASK WHY

What can we learn from our kids...

- It's more fun to colour outside the lines.
- If you're going to draw on the wall, do it behind the couch.
- Even Popeye didn't eat his spinach until he absolutely had to.
- If your dog doesn't like someone you probably shouldn't either.
- Sometimes you have to take the test before you've finished studying.
- If you want a kitten, start out asking for a horse.
- There is no good reason why clothes have to match.
- If the horse you're drawing looks more like a dog, make it a dog.
- Save a place in lines for your friends.
- Just keep banging until someone opens the door.
- Making your bed is a waste of time.
- Make up the rules as you go along.
- It doesn't matter who started it.
- Ask for sprinkles.
- Hang on tight.
- Ask "why" until you understand.

WHITE SNOW

Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.
--Rachel Carson

This is a picture of our backyard- taken this morning.  Our yard was gifted with a beautiful blanket of white snow.  It was incredible to wake up and see such beauty.  The world was covered (at least my world)  with such wonderful white.  I took several pictures this morning.  I waited each moment for the sun to shine and cast such brilliance on my subject.  The chairs.... there is nothing better than to sit by the creek at night (with a campfire) or by day with the light shimmering on the water.  I am grateful for this gift.  Today... the world is WHITE!  My yard is a gift....  THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH!

BRING IT INTO BEING

cre·a·tiv·i·ty
: the ability to make new things or think of new ideas

“Creativity is…seeing something that doesn’t exist already. You need to find out how you can bring it into being, and that way be a playmate with God.” - Michele Shea

Perhaps only magic can explain creativity, that sudden “aha!” moment when it all comes together. Some have said that it’s something mysterious and puzzling, perhaps impossible to figure out. Some have said it must be divine inspiration. Creativity is simply thinking the impossible, and then doing what no one else has done before, sometimes developing completely new worlds. If you’ve taken a new approach to a problem and it works, then you’re using your creativity.

I DID IT

I did it!  I am officially a Certified Kaizen Muse Creativity Coach.  I am so looking forward to helping folks break through the blocks they may have in their life.  I find Coaching to be an asset in my life.  I have enjoyed this program as well as the coaching I have been receiving.  If you are interested in learning more about this coaching program and the packages I offer, please contact me at Pathwaysski@comcast.net  You will be amazed!

Why Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching Works

The Unique Power in KMCC

The power of Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching™ (KMCC) comes from its refreshingly non-linear approach and understanding of human nature as cyclical and imperfect.

Small steps and the replacement of resistance with child-like eagerness move individuals past procrastination, overwhelm, self-sabotage, fear, and into the experience of creativity as an exalted routine.
The transcending ability of KMCC to embrace both the science and art of human creativity lies at the heart of its uniqueness. This partnership — Kaizen, rooted 2,000 year old wisdom that employs a one-small-step-at-a-time tactical approach to resolving the neurological and psychological realities of the mind with Muse ‘Technology’, a playful but practical way of unclogging creative and mental pores and awakening slumbering talents — is the brainchild of creativity expert, Jill Badonsky, M.Ed., author of The Nine Modern Day Muses and a Bodyguard: 10 Guides to Creative Inspiration for Artists, Poets. Lovers, and Other Mortals Wanting to Live a Dazzling Existence with applied tools from Dr. Robert Maurer of UCLA, author of One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way.

“Kaizen” small steps, steps much smaller than formerly considered small including 30 second periods of time, are used to reshape habits, thinking, and action over a realistic period of time.
The steps do not stay small they simply make engaging in tasks and the development of creative habits easier, thus at some point actually making the process quicker. Much of this design is based on scientific studies that resulted in clarity about how the mind can be trained to make long lasting changes in the way we use our thinking-namely incorporating our creative passions into our schedules despite fears, self-sabotage, overwhelm, perfectionism, negative self-talk, low self confidence, perceived lack of time, difficulty focusing and well established habits that do not serve us

WALKING

If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking.  Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk.  ~Raymond Inmon
Went out today for a nice 4 mile walk.  Surely it was needed.  I have been studying for my oral exam on Monday. Soon another Certified Kaizen Muse Creativity Coach will be available to the world.  Helping others with blocks.  Helping others to embark upon their creative journeys, one step at a time!  ONE SMALL STEP.

It is on these walks that my best ideas come to me.
It is while walking that difficult clarity emerges.”
Julia Cameron, Walking in This World.

Walking is all about creating space for “thinking” that has nothing to do with “doing”. When you walk, your mind has time to meander down different pathways than the ones it normally gets stuck in during more productivity-oriented activities. Your mind doesn’t have to fill itself with concerns about whether the erratic driver next to you is going to cut you off, or where your next turn-off is. All you need to do is put one foot in front of the other and let your mind wander down paths of its own. When we get too busy with “doing” and don’t dedicate enough time to “thinking”, we lose our creative edges. .

DREAM BIG

Where your dreams are concerned, be careful not to sell yourself short. Dream a large dream - and then spend the rest of your life making it come true.
Pastor Rick Warren

So in my mind I vision an art/studio healing cottage.  This came close.  I imagine myself in this little place, creating, dreaming and doing healing sessions.  We are soon to approach this, as we are readying ourselves to MOVE ON.  Not an easy task for me, and I keep imagining this kind of spot.  I intend to spend the rest of my life here.  Where intention is set, energy follows.  Bring the cottage/studio on!

DECIDE WHERE YOU WILL GO

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...- Dr. Seuss
Reading Dr Seuss to my son was always a great delight.  There is a magical, creative style in all the books.  The places YOU'LL go always spoke to me.  And such inspiration.  Imagine if......   you had no blocks and you only allowed in POSSIBILITY?  What if you could image YOUR life as it is SUPPOSED TO BE?
What if is always a good question.   And ONLY you can answer this.  Perhaps you have some questions you would like answered.  Consider CREATIVITY COACHING- Possibilities are ALLOWED..and EXPLORED. Give me a call and perhaps we can begin!

BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE

The best day of your life is the one
on which you decide your life is your own.
No apologies or excuses.
No one to lean on, rely on, or blame.
The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey -
and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.
This is the day your life really begins.

JUST FOR TODAY

The Five Reiki Principles

BY DR.MIKAO USUI

I - Just for today, I will not be angry.
Anger at others or oneself or at the whole world, creates serious blockages in one's energy.
It is the most complex inner enemy.  Reiki is an excellent tool to remove anger blockages which have accumulated in the body over years, but it cannot remove the residue of current anger which occurs daily.  Letting go of anger. brings Peace to the Mind.

II - Just for today, I will not worry.
While anger deals with past and present events, worry deals with future ones. Although worry is not always a negative phenomena, endless worries may fill one's head, and each one bores a small hole in one's body and soul. While anger requires a focused Reiki treatment to remove obstacles, worry requires the energy to be spread throughout the entire body.
Letting go of worry, brings healing into the Body.

III - Just for today, I will be grateful.
Be grateful from your heart inward. Inner intention is the important element in this principle. Simple things as thanks, forgiveness, smiles, good words, gratitude can improve your life and make YOU happy.  Being thankful brings Joy into the Spirit.

IV - Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Support yourself and your family respectably, without harming others. Earn a respectable living, live a life of honor.  Working Honestly brings Abundance into the Soul.

V- Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.
Honor your parents, honor your teachers, honor your elders.
Being Kind brings Love into the World.

Teaching a Level Three class tomorrow! YAY!  Always fun to prepare for this.  Being creative with the class design.  House is all charged up.  Two more folks being attuned to level three!  Adding more LOVE AND LIGHT to our world.   Be creative and learn Reiki.   Blessings to all for a great day.

GIVE THE WORLD YOUR BEST

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between you and them anyway."-- Mother Teresa

This struck me today.  Kind of the approach we take with Kaizen Coaching.... DO IT ANYWAY-  A real fun way of coaching- Compassionate and gentle.  This is what I am practicing today.  Doing my best!  Have a great Sunday.

DO SOMETHING CREATIVE EVERYDAY

Rowing is my CREATIVE ACTIVITY this year.

Once again, I am back on the erg!  YAY for rowing.  When I row- many creative thoughts fill my mind.  When I row I know I am doing something GOOD FOR ME.  This sport is still something many folks do not know about.

I have set an intention to ROW EVERYDAY in 2012.  I am doing well so far....

This machine CONCEPT 2 INDOOR ROWER is such a great tool for getting in shape.  I have over 6 million meters under my belt ( really it is over 10 million) I started rowing well before the computer age... I logged my meters in a book.  Once they came up with online logbooks I decided to start new and not log my "old fashion" meters.

Rowing is a creative exercise.  If you would like to learn more..please contact me.  I would love to discuss ROWING.  I am a Certified Rowing Instructor!

Be CREATIVE... Learn about ROWING!

CREATING IS HEALING

Scribble Out Your Frustration
Adapted from article in Fitness Magazine, October 1999, by Dale Schwarz
This 5 minute exercise, uses mindful drawing to help manage workplace frustration.  "Creativity goes beyond the arts to include how we make choices and live our lives," says Schwarz.  "Doodling engages both left and right sides of the brain, and can indicate how we feel and what we think," she says.  The physical act of drawing is also a useful release for anyone wound-up or stressed out.
  • Assemble several sheets of blank paper and colored markers, pencils or crayons.
  • Sit at your desk and shake out your hands, wrists and arms.  Close your eyes and take two deep breaths.  Open your eyes and choose a marker with a color that resonates with you.
  • Let your hand move across a sheet of a paper freely, making marks.  Be abstract.  If you want to repeat a line, do so, if one paper feels complete, start another.  Pay attention to your mood while draw.
  • If you find yourself judging your work, doodle with your eyes closed, or use your non-dominant hand.  It may take several tries before you loosen up.  Use as much paper as you need.

  • Finished?  Notice the colors, lines and shapes and how they relate to your issue.  Acknowledge the emotions you felt while doodling and consider an action step.  Often simply expressing feelings causes a positive shift.  Take a few deep breaths before you return to work.

COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES

Found this on Facebook- Healing with Art.  They have many inspiring quotes etc.  Do you remember when you were in grade school and the art teacher told you to stay within the lines?  I never felt this was right.  Was not until I got older did I color outside of the lines.  I believe most artists even THINK OUTSIDE THE LINES.  That makes them more interesting.  So go ahead COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES and see how freeing this makes your feel

the color yellow represents fun . yellow is bright and will lighten your day.

CREATIVITY AND PLAY

When we engage in what we are naturally suited to do, our work takes on the quality of play and it is play that stimulates creativity.” –  Linda Naiman

This quote is so right.  When I am creating programs to teach, or doing my massage, or coaching clients my work it feels like play.  This is when I know I am doing the right work.

Today I am "playing" with my other creative endeavors.  I am headed to a meeting at Peddler's Village to plan the race.  I have come out of retirement of Race Directing to plan yet another race.  This race will be held Wed July 26 2012.  Peddler's Village will be celebrating 50 years, so this race is one of the many fun things the village has planned.  I am so happy to be back directing again.  Putting on an event is such a creative project.  How blessed I am to love what I do for a living.  And it only gets better!

I meant to post this yesterday.   A new friend, fellow classmate and new coach sent this gift to me.  It was so kind.  She and I are "Coaching" each other, and it has been a very VERY valuable experience.  Thanks Kate!

A testimonial for you.

"Diane has the ability to take what you say and transform it, to help you see what is at the core of your issue.    She helped me see what was holding me back and gave me the tools to move forward on my project. I always feel infinitely better after a session."

- Kate Robertson

This was a picture from a walk at the lake in October.  The first snow storm of the year.  Such an incredible walk it was that day.

Creating Your Day

When you are compassionate with yourself, you trust in your soul, which you let guide your life. Your soul knows the geography of your destiny better than you do.
John O'Donohue
Back again today with some thoughts.  Met my two walking partners this morning.  We meet at the lake and walk and talk.  Good for the mind and body.  It is always interesting the conversations while walking.

Last night at our walk group I ended up talking about my new Coaching Business.  Truly this whole training has brought new life to my life!  I am so grateful.  The training has allowed me to re-create my CREATIVE LIFE.  I am playing with my art again.  Being open to all possibilities.

I have a deep sense that my "BOOK" will come to be.  Perhaps with the experience of writing in my blog this will give me the confidence and courage to begin.  One of the woman I walk with has started her book and she is such inspiration.

My college friend who inspired me to start a blog was a fellow art student friend.  Seems my life has a plan and I am open to following this plan.   Like the quote says, " Your soul knows the geography of your destiny better than you do."

Time to take SMALL STEPS and give permission to myself to LIVE CREATIVELY-  Next week I am offering at Playshop- MANIFESTING YOUR DREAMS IN 2012, no doubt this will be a fun and timely experience for those signed up- myself included.

Happy New Year!  May 2012 be the start of wonderment and fun-  Go on LIVE YOUR LIFE CREATIVELY AND COLORFUL!

HAVING FUN

“Every day is an opportunity to be creative – the canvas is your mind, the brushes and colors are your thoughts and feelings, the panorama is your story, the complete picture is a work of art called, ‘my life’. Be careful what you put on the canvas of your mind today – it matters.”  — Innerspace

Well here it is January 2012- A New Year...and soon My NEW BUSINESS.  I will be a Kaizen Muse Creativity Coach.  What is that?  Well read on and see.....
